The Adelaide Lightning is excited to announce they’re set to secure a signature from up-and-coming WNBA developmental star with the Phoenix Mercury- Shay Ciezki, pending league review and approval.
Ciezki heads Down Under for her first international stint following an impressive senior college season. The dynamic guard averaged 22.8 points per game while joining college basketball’s elite “50-40-90 club” - meaning she shot over 50% from the field, over 40% from three-point range, and over 90% from the free-throw line.
Adelaide Lightning General Manager Tess Madgen says the club is lucky to have secured the highly sought after playerand knows Lightning fans will love what she brings to the court.
“Shay has had an incredibly impressive college career and the statistics speak for themselves and highlight the level of player she is. Achieving a 50–40–90 season is an incredibly difficult feat and reflects not only her scoring ability but also her efficiency and overall skill set.”
Coach Aja Parham-Ammar is excited for what Ciezki will bring to the team, both on and off the court and says she’ll bring instant firepower.
“She’s a gritty threelevel scorer, a clever and creative guard, and a relentless competitor who refuses to take a play off. Shay impacts the game on both ends of the floor and brings a genuine love for the game that perfectly matches the Adelaide Lightning personality. “
On a personal level, Ciezki says she’s thrilled to head Down Under and join the Lightning for her first overseas professional season.
