The Adelaide Lightning is set to secure a key signing, today announcing versatile wing, Gemma Potter, will join the club for the 2026/27 season, pending league review and approval.
Potter brings elite agility and premier shooting to the Lightning’s roster. With her ability to stretch the floor she is one of the most valuable assets in the league.
“From my first conversation with Aja and the club, Adelaide just felt right. The roster she’s putting together is really exciting, and I’m looking forward to learning and growing alongside this group.”
“Aja’s vision for the team and the way she invests in her players really stood out to me. She genuinely cares about helping people grow both on and off the court, and that made me even more excited about this opportunity.”
“I can't wait to play in front of the Adelaide fans after seeing the support they brought last season and the atmosphere they created around the team. I’m excited to be part of the community and help with growing the game even more here,” Potter said.
The Lightning’s General Manager of Basketball, Tess Madgen, says Potter’s signing is a significant boost for the club’s long-term vision.
“Gemma Potter is an incredibly important addition to our program and someone we see as a key piece moving forward. While she’s coming off an injury-interrupted season, Gemma has already proven she is a starting-calibre player in the WNBL.”
Madgen says the club is hugely grateful for the partnership with South Australian Sports Institute, in supporting Gemma’s return to full health after a season-ending injury last year and believes she has a long-term future within the team.
“Beyond her on-court impact, Gemma displays strong leadership qualities that we’re excited to embrace. We’re committed to supporting her growth not just as a player, but as a leader within our program and the broader community.”
