The Adelaide Lightning showed resilience and fight despite going down to the Perth Lynx on the road, producing several encouraging signs as the WNBL season enters a crucial stretch.

Adelaide set the tone early, staying connected in the opening quarter against one of the league’s most in-form sides. A Dallas Loughridge three-pointer brought the margin back to just three points with 2:28 remaining in the first quarter, highlighting the Lightning’s ability to compete with Perth’s pace and physicality.

The Lightning continued to generate quality looks through strong ball movement and spacing, while defensively applying pressure to force contested shots and limit transition opportunities. Adelaide remained within reach through the first half, showing composure against the Lynx’s depth and experience.

True to their identity, the Lightning refused to go away late. Continuing their never-say-die attitude, Adelaide produced their strongest run in the final quarter, lifting the tempo and attacking with intent. The surge was led by Jasmin Fejo, whose energy off the bench sparked the group. Fejo finished with eight points, setting the tone at both ends during Adelaide’s aggressive late push.

Defensively, the Lightning again executed their game plan in the paint, successfully limiting Lynx centre Han Xu to just nine points. Team defence, timely rotations and a collective commitment on the glass were standout elements of the performance.

Further positives came from the rotation group, with bench contributions providing pace, pressure and confidence. The growing trust in younger players and depth minutes continues to be an important step forward for the group.

The Lightning now return home to face the Townsville Fire on Sunday in a must-win clash, with just 200 tickets remaining. Fans are encouraged to secure their seats and get behind the team as Adelaide looks to build momentum on home court. Don’t miss out book now!
