THINK! Road Safety Round this Sunday 9 November, will include fun activations and initiatives to build awareness about safe road behaviours and promote safe behaviours on the road ensuring the wellbeing of players, staff, and fans is front of mind.
“This THINK! Round Safety round is our way of saying thank you to South Australia’s incredible first responders and front-line workers for all they do to keep our community safe,” said Melanie MacGillivray, CEO of the Adelaide Lightning. “We’re proud to honour their service while promoting road safety and bringing our community together for what we hope to be another sell-out game!”
Coming off their first win over the UC Capitals (73-65), that saw the Adelaide Lightning rise to 5th on the WNBL ladder. The team will be well rested when they return to the SA State Basketball Centre to protect home court and hold on to that winning feeling against the Sydney Flames.
Sydney’s round 3 loss to reigning champions Bendigo (88-75) saw them slip to the bottom of the ladder and they will play host to Canberra on Thursday evening before travelling to Adelaide.
Lightning forward Sania Feagin’s Double Double against the Caps (19 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks) was recognised with a WNBL Player of the game nod. Her match up with the Flames Forward Unique Thompson will be worth the price of admission. Both standing 191cm Tall and starting to assert their dominance on the league, Feagin averaging 14.7 ppg, 7.7 rebs, 1.3 ass and 1 blk and Thompson 12.5 ppg and 6.8rebs.
Other key match-ups to watch will be between WNBA Veterans Steph Talbot and Olivia Epoupa and the Lightnings lockdown defenders who will need to minimise the impact the Flames Lauren Nicholson who is averaging 24 points per game on her return to the league after becoming a Mum to baby Ari last year.
