The Adelaide Lightning will start round 5 by heading North to the Fire Pit, where the ladder leading Townsville Fire will play their first home game of the season in front of their Orange Army who will no doubt have their cowbells at the ready!

Securing their 2nd win of the season at home against the Sydney Flames (88-71) on Sunday, despite the injury to import Serena Sundell (knee) in the fourth quarter, Coach Kerryn Mitchell felt like the team were just starting to find their rhythm and said their focus will be to continue building on that and working hard.

Serena Sundell (20 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 6 steals) is being looked after by the teams trusted SASI (South Australian Sports Institute) Medical staff as the club wrap their collective arms around the young import to provide whatever support is needed in the coming days.

Starting their season 4-1, the Fire have only dropped the 1 game to the Southside Flyers in a game where Cayla George exploited their defensive weaknesses, something the Lightning’s Sania Feagin will no doubt look to replicate as she continues her dominance of WNBL26.

The match-up between the 2025 WNBL Defensive Player of the Year, Lauren Cox (193cm) and Feagin(190cm) will be an entertaining battle of the Bigs, while point guards Miela Sowah and Dallas Loughridge will go head-to-head in the back court.

The Lightning will return home to the SA State Basketball Centre to play host to the Bendigo Spirit, 6.30pm (ACDT) Tuesday 18th of November. Both teams will be playing their second game of the round in what will be a home coming for Isobel (Izzy) Borlase who is in career best form averaging 22 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.75 assists, 2 steals and 1 block per game.

The reigning champs were the first team to get a taste of the new look Adelaide team back in September at the Townsville Tip-Off. Where the Lightning previewed their team brand of basketball, coming came back from a 20 deficit to beat the Spirit in an overtime thriller, 85-83.
