A packed Spark House turned out to roar the Lightning homeagainst the Southside Melbourne Flyers, closing a season that, at one point,nearly didn’t include them at all.

 

Southside arrived full of confidence after locking in theirfinals spot with a Tuesday night win over the Canberra Capitals at AIS Arena,bringing momentum and composure into the contest.

 

Adelaide found themselves down 5–15 early but lifted theirdefensive pressure and knocked down a couple of timely threes to cut the marginto six by quarter time.

 

The Flyers maintained control through the second quarter,executing well offensively to take a 48–35 lead into the main break.

 

At the three-quarter-time break, the Spark House crowdpaused to acknowledge and congratulate the South Australian Under-20 Women’sChampionship team, fresh off their national title — a well-earned moment ofrecognition that drew strong support from the home fans.

 

Adelaide lifted again in the final quarter, with an AshleeStrawbridge lay-up bringing the scores level at 60-all and setting up a genuinefinish.

 

However, Southside’s composure showed late. The Flyersexecuted down the stretch to regain control and close out the game 77–64.

 

The Lightning head to Sydney tomorrow for the WNBL AwardsNight, with strong representation across the honours. Dallas Loughridge is incontention for Breakout Player of the Year alongside teammate Tayla Brazel,while captain Steph Talbot has earned dual nominations for the Suzy BatkovicMedal (Most Valuable Player) and the Robyn Maher Defensive Player of the Yearaward.
